Chinese Embassy mourns victims

INDONESIA: The Chinese Embassy has made available a condolence book for Indonesians wishing to express their sympathy for victims of the May 12 earthquake.

The book will be open to the public at the embassy from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. on May 21, and has been available since May 19.

The 7.9 magnitude earthquake which struck China's Sichuan province is the worst natural disaster in the country in 30 years. The death toll has risen to almost 71,000.

The embassy is also holding a three-day period of national mourning that began on May 19. Flags at the embassy will be raised at half-mast throughout this period. --JP
