'The Jakarta Post' Content Funding Classifications
Aside from our news reporting, The Jakarta Post also produces content that is financially supported by outside parties.
This funding allows us to offer a variety of topics that are in line with and serve our readers’ interests.
In respect to our motto: “Always Bold, Always Independent”, we classify this funded content in such a way as to make it clear to our readers how the content is produced, commissioned, and most importantly, where the funds come from.
Our classification for funded content will be labeled in three ways: “Brought to you by”, “Inforial” and “From our advertisers”.
Brought to you by
“Brought to you by” is used to describe content that is independently produced by the Post's editorial staff. Sponsor funds from third parties are accepted both for content we are already producing as well as new content. Prior to agreeing to client funding, we consult our senior editors regarding its suitability. Funding of content requires approval from the editor-in-chief. The commissioning editor is in no way obliged to accept ideas from clients, although the client may suggest what kind of topics are covered. The Post will not show pre-published content to clients for approval. The content is written, produced and edited by Post journalists adhering to our independent journalism standards.
“Inforial” is the term used to describe articles that contain advertisement features written by our commercial department, but paid for and controlled by the publisher. This content is hosted by the Post and does not involve its staff journalists.
From our partners
“From our partners” is used to describe content that is paid for and fully produced by advertisers. The Post serves as host for this type of content and does not involve its commercial department or staff journalists.
