JAKARTA: The newly installed chairman of the Agency of National Film Development (BP2N), Deddy Mizwar, confirmed on Saturday that the agency had revoked the best film award won by Eskul at the 2006 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI).

""Yes, it's true. The details will be explained at our press conference on June 28,"" said Deddy.

The actor-director recently directed and played a lead role in Nagabonar Jadi 2 (Nagabonar becomes 2).

The agency also retracted the best director award for the film's director, Nayato Fio Nuala, based on alleged violations of copyright.

Earlier, dozens of young filmmakers and actors had returned their FFI Citra awards in protest of the wins by Eskul, claiming that the film's score was ""illegally taken"" from Hollywood films.

Eskul was produced by soap opera production house Indika Entertainment. -- JP
