JAKARTA: Architect Sandra Angelia was crowned Miss Indonesia 2008 in a glamorous event Wednesday night at the Jakarta Convention Center, Central Jakarta.

The 22-year-old graduate of the University of Western Australia, Perth, will also be the country's representative in the Miss World pageant this September.

Sandra represented East Java in the Miss Indonesia contest.

Dressed in a green Harry Darsono gown, she charmed the audience and members of the jury by confidently saying she would first improve legal enforcement if she was appointed as the country's leader.

"After improving law enforcement, the education sector would be my next priority because I want poor children to be able to get the education they deserve," she said.

Sandra will prepare for the Miss World pageant by increasing her knowledge of the country's history and tourism as well as improving her English language skills. --JP/Stevie Emilia

You said "There is no problem with being a preacher's daughter is there. and what is your definition of lavishly? They have the rights on the money they earn"

I say: Indonesia has millions of hungry & homeless, sandra's parent is just a preacher who earns salary in rupiah. Sandra drove Mercedes when she was mere a student in Perth, she didn't work as anything there, she got the money 100% supplied from Indonesia.
Her St. Hilda's fee is around $25.000 a year, living cost is about the same, total a year she spent around $50.000. that's for one person only. How much have they spent in rupiah?

Her parent has been supporting 3 children in Perth. There are many cheaper private school in Perth, but st Hilda's is one of the most expensive school in Australia. That's Lavish, boy!

There are not many Australian students afford to drive mercedes to campus, she came from a third world country where millions are hungry. Life style like this is called Lavish, boy!

Very clear they don't have feelings for the poor. of course everyone has the right to spend their money. How much do you think a pastor from a third world country earn?
As I understand, there was not one biblical figure who became rich after becoming a preacher or pastor!

It is difficult to comprehend this problem if you don't have heart for the poor.

You said :"-A preacher is also a job, and it is a legal job. And doing a legal job, (although not always) preachers are paid. About how much they are paid, it is up to the church to decide. We can not blame them if their congregation give a lot of money for offering. And also, you have to look at their background information as well, I heard that Sandra's grandfather was a really successful business man he had a lot to inherit--

I say: Of course preacher is a job, but the preacher earn money from telling people that "giving to church is the same as giving to God". That's the reason why lots of people are willing to pay 10% of their earnings to church because they were made to believe that God will prosper them in return.

Other job don't do that, a doctor or a lawyer never say to their client that when they give money it is the same as paying to God.

I am sure if the preacher want to be honest he could tell the congregation that not all the offering will be used for church purposes, but rather to be used to support his family's living cost overseas plus buying Mercedes.

If that can be done, and the congregation are aware about the situation, then no one feel deceived!

Sandra grandfather (Alex Tanuseputra) is notorious as a money grabber, he prey on the vulnarable rich. He used to be a bankrupt businessman before becoming "pastor". He also borrows money to his congregation but never pay back as God will pay them back later on.

Sandra is a daughter of Yusak Hadisiswantoro a preacher from Bethany group who live lavishly in East java.

-- There is no problem with being a preacher's daughter is there. and what is your definition of lavishly? They have the rights on the money they earn --

Sandra spent about 9 years study in Perth Australia, High school at St Hilda College one of the most expensive schools in Australia, average school fee for overseas student was about A$20.000 per year plus living cost.
Total per year he had to spend was about $40.000 per year. That's just the cost for supporting one child.

-- This statement is so unfair. Parents willingly to sacrifice a lot of money for their children's education because they want their children to have the best education possible. I feel sorry but the teaching & learning system of Indonesia have been something that western education professional have been concerning about.--

Imagine, with that amount of money how many people he could use to help other needy children in his own country?

--You're saying it as if the money was wasted on something useless, it's their own money and it's for their own daughter's education for goodness sake. It's not like those corrupted people in the government that steal people's money for pleasure--

Her parent is a full time "preacher" in Indonesia where most of the population live under poverty line. One would wonder how much does he earn as a preacher?
What does he think about poor people?
