JAKARTA: Burglars broke into a house belonging to the director of PT Mandom Indonesia, an Indonesia-based personal care manufacturer, a family member said Wednesday.
The house's owner, Herman Saleh, had left for a minor pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia on Saturday, while his son, Pramanda, left for Bandung, West Java, on Sunday. Their housekeeper went home to Lampung on Monday.
Pramanda said the house was left empty on weekdays and guarded by a security guard because the family usually only gathered at home on weekends.
Pramanda, 27, said his father's 42-inch plasma TV, a notebook computer, a desktop computer, jewelry and Rp 10 million in cash were stolen from the property.
"In total, all of the stolen goods were worth hundreds of millions of rupiahs," Pramanda told Detik.com on Wednesday.
Strangely, he said, the thief did not take the Toyota Camry car and Supra X motorcycle left in the garage of their home on Jl. Prapanca Buntu, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
The thief broke the garage door lock and hinges. They also broke into the kitchen and master bedroom, which were also locked.
Herman's company, Mandom Indonesia, manufactures and trades cosmetics, perfumes, cleaning materials and plastic containers. -JP
