Weekend workshift not promising in Yogyakarta

The Yogyakarta chapter of the Commerce and Industry Chamber (Kadin) on Tuesday said the weekend workshift required by the government would be difficult to implement in Yogyakarta.
"It is feasible if there is an extra payment for the workers to work on the weekend, otherwise they will reject it because the weekend is family time," Sukamto, head of the Yogyakarta chamber
of Kadin, said.
Sukamto said his chamber did not reject the policy, but it should be reevaluated.
"The policy is too premature. The government should carry out a socialization and allow us to prepare better," he said.
The government has issued a regulation that requires firms to implement a weekend workshift. This policy is made to avoid alternate power blackouts. (***)
