Tax revenue from ads exceeds target

TANGERANG: The revenue from advertisement taxes in Tangerang municipality has already exceeded this year's target, an official said Thursday.

Tabih Hadi, head of the revenue department at the municipality's finance and welfare agency said the projected intake from ad taxes alone was Rp 8.3 billion (US$886,000), but in eight months the administration had collected Rp 9.5 billion.

"The agency routinely sends warnings on the expiry date of the billboards, so the owners pay their taxes on time. The increased number of billboards has also helped jack up revenue," he said. --JP
