The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) is offering free transportation services to homeward-bound travelers.

Denying the offer constituted any form of political campaigning, PDI-P secretary general Pramono Anung said the party would increase the number of buses carrying travelers home next year should Megawati be elected president in the upcoming election.

"This is not related to the election, but if Megawati is trusted again, we will provide the people with the best," Pramono said at an event in Central Jakarta to introduce the travel program, as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.

A total of 425 buses were made available for the promotion, with about 23,000 passengers expected to board.

The event's host, national comedian Mi'ing, repeatedly reminded travelers not to forget the party's election number and to thank party members for providing the free transportation service.

According to Pramono, the biggest contributors to the event were M. Effendi Simbolon and shoe factory owner Murdaya Po. (and)
