NDONESIA: The European Union will organize two education fairs in Jakarta, offering Indonesians the chance to understand the European educational system and consult with more than 90 participating institutions.

The "Asia-Link Symposium" will be held on Oct. 31 at the Shangri-la Hotel, while the "European Higher Education Fair" will take place Nov. 1-2, with support from a consortium consisting of the Netherlands, France, Germany and Britain.

The symposium is aimed at facilitating discussion between educational policy makers in Europe and Indonesia and to give them a chance to share knowledge and information. Scholarship information, including from Erasmus Mundus, StuNed and the British Chevening Award will be available during the education fair.

Pierre Philippe, the European Commission's Charge d'Affaires, said in a press release that Europe, as a center of science development, expects to see more Indonesian students in the coming years.--JP
