Attempts to lift the flight ban were a good effort by the government. Nonetheless, other aspects of aviation must be looked into.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) must ensure that local airlines meet safety standards and flight schedules. It's pretty scary traveling with Indonesian carriers since none of them fulfill airline requirements.
Take for example the national flag carrier, Garuda, that is far more lax in terms of safety than other regional airlines e.g. Malaysian Airlines or SQ.
Bookings via internet are also not permitted, and passengers are forced to make their trip down to a travel agent or airlines office.
Garuda management could go to Malaysiaairlines.com and take heed of how much easier to travel with foreign carriers are than our own Garuda.

On Oct. 29, The Jakarta Post published the same article titled "Old and new viruses spread by air travel, crowding" on pages 10 and 18.
Did somebody fall asleep in your editing room or did you just not have enough material to fill up that day's edition of my favorite local newspaper?
