Parties' profiles on Internet

JAKARTA: Inspired by the historic win of Barack Obama in the recent U.S. election, a community website is providing profiles of all the 38 political parties contesting the 2009 legislative election.
The Friends Uniting Program Especially Indonesian (FUPEI) said in its statement the database was expected to help its 80,000 members and the general public compare the parties, which will vie for 550 House of Representatives seats.
The website, www.partai.fupei.com, offers the parties use of the site as a new model of campaigning.
"Who knows, maybe the political parties can emulate the success of Barack Obama who made full use of Internet technology to win the election," FUPEI said in the statement. -- JP
