JAKARTA: Indonesian bowlers Jerry Ramadona and Tannya Roumimper rallied past their contenders to capture titles in respective boys and girls U-23 events at the inaugural Ancol International Tenpin Bowling Championship held at Jaya Ancol Bowling Center in North Jakarta on Thursday.
Jerry carded 2,029 to top the standings, while Moh Amrul Afif of Malaysia came second with 1,977. Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist Dennis Ranova of Indonesia settled for the third place with 1,950.
In the girls' U-23 event, World Youth Bowling Championship all-event silver medalist Tannya lived up her top billing by posting 1,915 to claim the trophy.
"This is like a special birthday present to me," said the Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, who has turned 18 on Monday.
With 1,875, second place went to Gina Lim of Singapore with 1,847, while third place was taken by Krizziah Tabora of the Philippines who scored 1,843.
In the women's Grade A class, Putri Astari of Indonesia shot 2,205 to win the event, leaving second and third spots to compatriots Tan Bie Liang and Jessica Florencia with 2,196 and 2,165 respectively. --JP
