KPK detains top regional official in graft case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday detained a top West Java official for his alleged involvement in a fire engine procurement graft case which had caused state losses of Rp 50 billion (US$ 4.1 million).
Ijudhin Budyana, who is a nonactive official at West Java culture and tourism agency, was taken to West Jakarta police detention center, but refused to answer journalists' questions.
Ijudhin's lawyer, H. Syaf Agria Simatupang, told
Kompas.com that investigators had asked his client about his personal identity and the provincial budget.
The KPK has also named former West Java governor Danny Setiawan, former utilities agency head Wahyu Kurnia and PT Setya Jaya Mobilindo director Yusuf Setiawan as suspects in the case.
