T

he Semarang Prosecutor's Office in Central Java has arrested three individuals in connection with the alleged bullying of Aulia Risma Lestari, a 30-year-old postgraduate medical resident at Diponegoro University (FK Undip), who died by suicide in August last year.

The three individuals have been identified only as TEN, director of the university’s anesthesiology residency program; SM, a staff member in the finance department; and ZYA, a senior doctor supervising anesthesiology residents at FK Undip.

They were named as suspects by the Central Java Police in December last year but were not immediately detained, as authorities said they were cooperating with the investigation.

Head of the Semarang Prosecutor's Office Candra Saptaji said authorities decided to detain the three suspects due to concerns they might flee, tamper with evidence or repeat their offenses.

“They also face charges that carry a potential sentence of more than five years in prison,” he said on Thursday, as reported by Kompas.id.

Candra added that TEN will be held at the Semarang Detention Center, while SM and ZYA will be detained at the Semarang Women’s Penitentiary for the next 20 days pending trial.
