ndonesian authorities have apprehended three foreign nationals for the alleged premeditated murder of an Australian man in Bali over the weekend, highlighting an emerging crime wave perpetrated by foreigners at the popular holiday destination.
Two of the suspects, identified only as 27-year-old TPM and 23-year-old C, were reportedly arrested in Singapore with assistance from Interpol.
The third suspect, 37-year-old DFJ, was apprehended at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, as he attempted to board a flight to Singapore.
Bali Police Chief Insp. Gen. Daniel Adityajaya said the three suspects, who are all Australian nationals, fled Bali using various modes of transportation following the alleged murder.
“They initially left the crime scene on motorbikes, then used two separate rental cars and a ferry to reach Surabaya in East Java. From there, they traveled to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport,” he said during a press conference on Wednesday.
“The arrests were the result of coordinated efforts between Bali Police investigators, the National Police’s General Crimes Division, Immigration authorities and Interpol,” Adityajaya added.
Police launched a manhunt for the suspects on Saturday, just hours after 32-year-old Zivan Radmanovic was fatally shot at his villa in the popular tourist area of Badung, shortly after midnight.
