he bodies of two shrimp fishermen were discovered on Monday off the coast of Citra Beach in Medang Deras district, Batu Bara regency, North Sumatra, after their boat capsized in stormy seas on Sunday afternoon.
The two shrimpers, identified as Muslihat and Inyak, were both 60 years old and residents of Lalang village in Medang Deras.
A third shrimper, identified as Hanafi, survived the accident after swimming against the tide toward shore for around an hour and a half, using a jerrican as a float.
According to Eka Rahman, coordinator of the quick response team at the Batu Bara Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the boat capsized and sank at around 5 p.m. on Sunday as the fishers were heading back home after a shrimping trip.

Several residents also joined the rescue mission, Eka added.
“Both victims were found dead, floating off Citra Beach in Kuala Tanjung [village], some 1 nautical mile [1.8 kilometers] from the shore. Their bodies have been taken to a funeral home,” Eka said.
