Time-lapse incubators, genetic screening and advanced sperm selection are some of the latest advances in fertility treatment experts believe will improve in vitro fertilization (IVF) success rates.

A time-lapse incubator monitors embryo development in real time, 24 hours a day. With this technology, doctors and patients can check images remotely on mobile devices so embryos do not need to be removed from the incubator, which helps maintain embryo quality.

Meanwhile, preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) helps ensure transferred embryos have normal chromosomes, increasing the chances of successful pregnancy and lowering the risk of miscarriage.

With intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI), embryologists can pick the highest-quality sperm using a microscope with 6,000 times magnification.

“These are technologies adopted at Klinik Yasmin over the past two years to help increase IVF success rates in Indonesia,” obstetrician-gynecologist Gita Pratama of Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital (RSCM) said during the relaunch of the reproductive center in Jakarta on May 26.
