View all search resultsThe state electricity firm has replaced its president director in an extraordinary general meeting that was convened just two days after a major power outage hit Batam, the Riau Islands, prompting a public apology from Danantara.
tate-owned electricity provider PLN appointed Suroso Isnandar to replace Darmawan Prasodjo as president director in an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) of shareholders on Wednesday after a year of major power outages across the archipelago.
Darmawan had led PLN since December 2021.
Suroso is a career executive who previously served as the company’s director of project management and renewable energy. Suroso will retain his previous position until a replacement is found.
The EGM, held at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom, was attended by all members of PLN's boards of directors and commissioners as well as Tedi Bharata, deputy head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN).
PLN independent commissioner Andi Arief confirmed the leadership change took place in the evening, saying no official reason had been given for Darmawan’s removal.
“I suspect this is a routine change, since Darmawan has been in the role for quite a long time,” Andi said on Wednesday, as quoted by Reuters.
