egislators from across the Islamic world concluded the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC) in Jakarta on Thursday, adopting a declaration that calls for an immediate end to hostilities in Gaza and renewed international support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The Jakarta Declaration, released at the close of the four-day event, emphasized the urgency of halting Israeli military aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories and firmly rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians or annex their land.

Reading the declaration, Mardani Ali Sera, head of the House of Representatives’ Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Body (KSAP), said PUIC members voiced strong backing for Palestine's sovereignty and its role as an independent state in multilateral platforms.

“[We] fully support the role of the State of Palestine as an independent and sovereign state in various multilateral forums and the international efforts to advance the two-state solution,” Mardani stated.

The conference, attended by over 500 legislative delegates from 37 OIC member countries, also called for enhanced inter-parliamentary cooperation to tackle shared challenges such as economic hardship, socio-economic inequality and the pursuit of sustainable development across the Muslim world.
